Isabel Shang (she/her)
Chair
Entering her senior year at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary, Isabel Shang serves as the Chair of the Catalyst Foundation. Isabel’s leadership began with a simple realization: awareness matters, but follow-through matters more. Isabel is also deeply engaged in business through case competitions, where she thrives on the combination of strategy, teamwork, and time-pressure communication. Outside of meetings and case prep, you’ll usually find Isabel hunting for the “perfect” café study spot in Vancouver, taking photos on her digital camera, or convincing her friends that a walk can be both productive and therapeutic.

Quinta Ye (she/her)
Secretary
Quinta Ye is a grade 12 IB student at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School. She leads this effort with the goal of creating a better world starting from her local community, Vancouver, by working to address the opioid addiction crisis. Outside of Catalyst, Quinta spends much of her time studying and training in St. John Ambulance cadets as a non-commissioned officer. Quinta is particularly interested in natural sciences and aims to pursue a career in biomedical engineering. She hopes that the Catalyst Foundation can help build a more compassionate, supportive, and connected community in Vancouver.

Emma Lau (she/her)
Director of Fundraising
Emma Lau is a Grade 12 student at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School. She leads this effort with the goal of helping the Vancouver community becoming a healthier society. Outside of Catalyst, Emma spends much of her time figure skating and coaching to aspiring young skaters. Emma is particularly interested in the business field and aims to delve deeper into HR and Finance. She hopes that the Catalyst Foundation can spark the initiative for the Vancouver community to be active in collaborating towards a thriving city.

Director of Human Resources
Joey Luo is a grade 12 student at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School. He leads this effort with the goal of a positive change towards the Vancouver community regards to the opioid crisis. Outside of Catalyst, Joey spends his time dominating on the basketball court and working out. Joey is fascinated about finance and aims to pursue a career in business. He hopes that the Catalyst Foundation can help create a safer environment for the future of Vancouver.

Keira Ho (she/her)
Director of Journalism
Keira Ho is a Grade 12 student at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School. She leads this effort with the goal of advocating for compassionate, evidence-based responses to addiction. Outside of Catalyst, Keira spends much of her time volunteering at youth education programs and at understaffed language schools. Keira is particularly interested in languages and works to pursue a career in translating/interpretation. She hopes that the Catalyst Foundation can contribute to building a culture of empathy and resilience in Vancouver.

Andy Chen (he/him)
Director OF OUTREACH
Entering his senior year, Andy Liu is excited to support the Catalyst Foundation’s mission of turning student initiative into consistent community impact. He values work that is practical, organized, and accountable—showing up reliably and following through on commitments. Andy is especially drawn to Catalyst because it gives students a concrete way to contribute to local needs through outreach, fundraising, and community partnerships. Outside of school, you can usually find Andy playing volleyball, staying active with friends, and bringing steady energy to any team he’s part of.

Winnie Wen

Entering her senior year, Winnie is excited to be part of the Catalyst Foundation and help turn student energy into consistent community impact. She values service that is practical and reliable—work that goes beyond awareness and follows through with real support for local organizations. Winnie is especially drawn to Catalyst because it brings people together to create tangible outcomes through outreach, fundraising, and community initiatives. Outside of school, you can usually find her doing photography—capturing candid moments, experimenting with light, and documenting the everyday details that tell the best stories.

Chloe Kao (she/her)
External Vice Chair
Chloe Kao is a Grade 12 student at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School. She leads this effort with the goal of supporting the Vancouver community in addressing the opioid epidemic. Outside of Catalyst, Chloe spends much of her time dancing competitively with her school team and organizing volunteer events that bring youth together for meaningful impact. She is particularly interested in business and finance, aiming to combine entrepreneurial leadership with community-driven solutions. She hopes that the Catalyst Foundation can help create a brighter, more supportive future for Vancouver by empowering youth to take action on pressing social issues.

Ava Leas (she/her)
JOURNALIST
Ava Leas is a grade 12 student at Seycove Secondary. She is an avid advocate regarding the mental health epidemic taking place in Canada, which coexists with the opioid and fentanyl toxicity epidemic. Being an Indigenous girl, Ava is concerned with the way the Canadian government approaches minority groups, as well as how systemic issues such as classism affect individuals in receiving treatment for existing mental health and substance use conditions. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering, writing for her psychology blog (Psych for Change) and spending time with pets and children. Ava aspires to make a change in Vancouver throughout the Catalyst Foundation alongside all the amazing other youth apart of this moving organization.

Sho Angiers (she/they)
JOURNALIST
Sho Angiers is a 17-year-old student in Vancouver currently studying to obtain her GED. Coming from a community & family tree with a long history of substance abuse, joining The Catalyst Foundation is an opportunity for her to combat that for the current citizens of the city. Sho is a lover of every aspect of the arts, in the long term future she hopes to have worked towards being able to express herself through every creative venue possible. From film direction to music production, every avenue in which she can share her perspective is something she would like to create as she continues.

Anna Taylor (she/her)
JOURNALIST
Anna Taylor is a Year 2 IB student at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School. She joined the Catalyst team as she had grown up in downtown Vancouver, and has seen the opioid crisis continue to devastate her community. By joining forces with the Catalyst Foundation, she is given the opportunity to be part of a collective effort aimed at addressing this pressing issue. She has a passion for writing and hopes to pursue a career in Journalism and sees the position of Journalist for the Catalyst Foundation as a natural next time to reaching that goal.

Narin Jaff (she/her)
JOURNALIST
Narin Jaff is a year 2 IB student at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary. As someone who has grown up in the Downtown area, she is well familiar with the opioid crisis and the impact it has on Vancouver. Narin believes that the Catalyst Foundation is a great way to get involved and do her part to help combat the crisis as a student journalist. She is an avid writer and contributes to the Catalyst Journal to broaden her scope in journalism.

James Han is a Grade 12 student from David Thompson Secondary School. He is interested in physics & its applications and seeks a career in engineering physics. Apart from academics, James enjoys watching movies and collecting vinyl records of his favourite artists. James lives in a community where the effects of the toxic drug supply have only increased and he hopes to bring a positive change to all of Vancouver by battling the opioid epidemic and promoting Catalyst's effort.

Andrew Sun is a Grade 12 student at Burnaby Mountain Secondary. Andrew joined Catalyst because he wants to contribute to the community. Andrew once got disqualified from a pie eating competition he should have won... (link if asked) got tricked into waxing his leg twice and is into biology and linguistics after retiring from math, physics, and computer science.

Sabiq Hassan (on the left)is a Grade 12 student at New Westminster Secondary School. With a passion for creating change, he spends his time involved in his local community in various community centers, farmers markets and other local events. He aspires to pursue a career in public policy By being a part of Catalyst, he hopes to do his part in addressing the opioid epidemic and inspire other students to make positive impacts on their communities.

Fran Sayer is a grade 12 (IB year 2) student at Churchill Secondary School. She enjoys reading, science, [listening to] music, crocheting, board games, and the company of her friends, family, and dog. She has witnessed the systemic mishandling of drug addiction in Vancouver for years, and is glad to have a chance to give back to her city.

Shubhleen Mehat (she/her)
HR COORDINATOR
Shubhleen Mehat is a grade 12 student at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary. Shubhleen, a compassionate and determined individual, joined the Catalyst Foundation, a non-profit driven by a desire for positive change. Having witnessed the devastating effects of substance abuse in her community, Shubhleen felt compelled to take action. Her role in HR resonates with her roles outside of the Catalyst Foundation where she creates events with volunteers and is even the president of the youth council at her local community centre. With a strong sense of empathy and a belief in the power of grassroots efforts, she recognized the Catalyst Foundation as a platform to make a meaningful difference. Through her involvement, Shubhleen aims to support those affected by addiction, raise awareness, and advocate for effective prevention and treatment strategies, embodying the Foundation's mission of catalyzing change in the fight against drug abuse.

Adrianna Dale (she/her)

Adrianna Dale is a grade 12 student at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary, embodies compassion and determination. She has actively engaged with the Catalyst Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to fostering positive change. Motivated by firsthand experiences of the harmful impact of substance abuse in her community, Adrianna took on a role in HR within the foundation. Beyond her Catalyst involvement, she has been volunteering for three years at her school and local community centre. With a deep sense of caring and a belief in grassroots action, Adrianna sees the Catalyst Foundation as a powerful tool for making real change happen. To lend a hand to those affected by addiction, raise awareness, and push for practical prevention and treatment methods—all in line with Catalyst’s mission to fight against substance abuse.

RESOURCE COORDINATOR
Sorren Lu is currently a Grade 12 student at West Point Grey Academy, pursuing all sorts of things but with the goal of one day studying bioethics. Otherwise, they can often be found humming a tune (either alone or in a choir). As a member of Catalyst, Sorren hopes to help challenge the stigma around poverty and the Downtown East Side.
